Caught in the frame: The spirit of motorcycling in photography

Motorcycle photography is one of the most exciting and dynamic types of photography. While some people mainly associate it with wild rides and dangerous stunts, for many motorcycle enthusiasts, it is a way to capture the beauty and power of these amazing machines.

Motorcycle photographers often possess special skills that allow them to capture the best moments while riding on two wheels. They must be prepared for quick reactions and precise framing to capture the dynamic movement of the motorcycle in the frame. I think our photographer Kamila captured this in the images below.

However, motorcycle photography is not just about action – you can also find beautiful shots of peaceful scenes, for example during a break in the parking lot, or during a skills training session for safe motorcycle riding. These photos showcase the beauty of the environment and the sense of freedom experienced while riding a motorcycle.

For many people, motorcycle photography is not just a way to capture fleeting moments of riding, but also a way to express their passion and love for motorcycles.
Thanks to this type of photography, we can admire not only the machine itself, but also the whole world of emotions and experiences that accompany riding on two wheels. And here we present to you a sample photo session with my Yamaha MT-07 motorcycle during a parking lot training session, as well as photos taken at night with the motorcycle..

A person in a grey hoodie sits on a motorcycle facing away, ready to ride. The back of the hoodie features a colorful graphic of a clenched fist gripping a throttle with the words “Serial Throttles.” The motorcycle’s red tail light glows brightly. The photo is taken at dusk.
A young woman in a black leather jacket sits facing backward on a sport motorcycle, smiling brightly and looking at the camera. She has dark hair and radiates joy and confidence. The photo was taken at dusk on an empty asphalt lot.

With an eye of the Photographer – magic after the dark

Night shots are taken in a different way than during the day when there is plenty of light. You have to be very careful that the photo does not come out ‘shaky’ (unless that is the intention).

I always try to make the photo ‘straight out of the camera’ as good as possible. I’m not a fan of the ‘it’ll be done in the processing’ principle, because quite simply not everything can be saved. And then it is very time-consuming.

I used an additional light source (reporter lamp) to illuminate the model. I had to take a couple of test shots before I was satisfied with the result, in order to set all the parameters well in the camera. As long as you know your equipment, this goes very smoothly.

With this photo, I wanted to show the atmosphere of this place, which looks very ordinary during the day and at first glance. All its magic appears only after dark…
